True. Even today we only know those cities which were grown by Britishers. Not one state in India has its own grown city , except Chandigarh . Some cities are surrounded by main cities like navi mumbai and gurgaon. In fact it's such a great opportunity to make the city from scratch where there are less local so less interference.

Mumbai, and by extension Navi Mumbai are Gujarati cities in Maharashtra. He ain't wrong. Marathis sold land to outsiders. And your whining that "why can't they develop cities in their own states" is coming true. I recently came across a user crying that despite paying so much taxes, Apple isn't setting up their factory in Maharashtra but rather is setting up in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Maharashtra had the first mover advantage before independence, now with help of advancement in transportation technology, inland waterways and heavy investment in North, Most companies, if not all of them, will consider moving to north. 

When Maharashtra was industrializing, Government was expanding its monopoly on power in North, ie, fighting thieves, bahubalis, communist insurgents, islamic insurgents, etc. now government is industrializing North. 
I lived in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Nepal, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Now moved to Maharashtra. But nobody is as idiotically proud of their culture like marathis. Not to mention, every time I go to university in Pune, I feel that every person is trying to scam me out of money, this thing rarely happened with me in punjab.

Also, im from Delhi. I learnt punjabi, pahadi, haryanvi and marwadi because I lived there for years and for initial two three years, I felt accepted there. Unlike in Maharashtra, where people justify slapping people, even on this sub. I think I will never learn marathi, even if I do, I won't speak in it. Not because I hate marathi, but because I want to protest against bullshit narratives.

everyone wants to work in Mumbai since it's the economic hub of India and take vacation in the rest of Maharashtra as they are kinda cutoff from the hustle and bustle of the city.

other underdeveloped states have good vacation stats, however due to less economic development have bad work opportunity stats.

remove Mumbai factor and this will probably become like every other state with 1 or 2 impressive cities and rest as rural areas.

there has to be a good alternative solution from people who are trying for a reform and want no more immigration from poor states. at the end of the day most people are migrating to places with opportunity to make money and very few are migrating to create the opportunity to make money.

I remember this pledge we had after morning prayers in school, "India is my country and all Indians are my brothers and sisters. I love my country and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage."

I am from Rajasthan. My father is principal in a government school. His school is in good condition. After the first incident where six student died, many government schools were  provided funds to repair their school building. In my tehsil there are 100s of school and guess what 3 schools were selected for the funds and to my suprise my dad's school was also in that list. Like on what basis schools were selected. Again the needy are helpless. Btw my dad's school got 8 lakhs.

Rajasthan is seeing unprecedented rains this monsoon. I've never seen it rain so much here in my entire life. Those structures have never seen this much rain, nor they were made for it.
